Hey Bois and Grills. Here is what makes this list different than any other on the web. First – I tried to FIND the ultimate list of dark, thoughtful, noir, violent, gritty movies. There are pieces of these lists on the net, but nothing extensive in ONE PLACE. Second, a lot of lists “think” that they are gritty or controversial – most are not. And finally, there is MUCH repeat of the same 20-30 films. Many of those films are here, true. But at last count there are well over 350 others also here.
If you are looking for “great movies for the family to watch tonight” then you should click AWAY now. In fact, I’ll even assist with that. Here is a great site to see everything available on Netflix any given time for example: https://www.whats-on-netflix.com/
But if you are looking at 50 years of the most gritty, violent, thought-provoking, or just plain “punch you in the gut” movies ever made, start scrolling. Hell, I even have several blockbusters and even one chick-flick in there. Use the cloud tag on the right to sort if you like.
